All our Nusa Penida tours depart from Sanur Harbor in Bali. A fast speedboat takes approximately 30–45 minutes to reach Nusa Penida island. The speedboat ticket is included in all our Nusa Penida tour packages — return trip included. If you need hotel pickup to Sanur Harbor, this is available as an additional service. We recommend arriving at Sanur by 7:30 AM for an 8:00 AM departure.
The black lava field is a vast, otherworldly landscape formed by the last major eruption of Mount Batur in 1963. The cooled volcanic lava stretches across the lower slopes of the mountain, creating a dramatic dark terrain unlike anything else in Bali. It’s one of the most photogenic spots on the island — especially when contrasted against the blue sky and Lake Batur in the background. Our jeep takes you right through the lava fields so you can explore on foot and take photos up close.
All Nusa Penida packages include: speedboat tickets from Sanur and back, private air-conditioned car with driver and local guide on the island, entrance tickets to all tourist attractions, lunch at a restaurant near Kelingking Beach, mineral water, and hotel pickup and drop-off in most Bali areas. Our West + Snorkeling package also includes snorkeling equipment rental, a jukung boat, and a snorkeling guide. Everything is bundled — no hidden extras on the day.
Kelingking Beach is famous for its T-Rex shaped cliff viewpoint, which is easily accessible and great for photos. Descending to the actual beach below requires a steep, challenging trail (approximately 45 minutes each way) and is optional — most guests enjoy the view from the top. Our local guide will be with you throughout and can advise whether the descent is suitable based on your fitness level and the weather on the day.
Manta Bay (Manta Point) is one of the best places in the world to snorkel with manta rays, and sightings are common — but not guaranteed, as they are wild animals. The best months for manta ray sightings are typically May through October when the waters are calmer and visibility is better. Our experienced snorkeling guide will take you to the best spots and knows the waters well. Even without mantas, the marine life, coral, and underwater scenery at Nusa Penida are extraordinary.
The West Trip covers Nusa Penida’s most iconic landmarks: Kelingking Beach (the famous T-Rex cliff), Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong, and Crystal Bay. It’s the most popular route and great for first-time visitors. The East Trip explores the quieter, wilder side of the island: Diamond Beach, Atuh Beach, Teletubies Hill, and the stunning Raja Lima viewpoint. East Nusa Penida has fewer tourists and arguably more dramatic scenery. If you can’t decide, our Mix Trip gives you highlights from both sides in one day.
Some beaches in Nusa Penida have strong currents, so swimming conditions vary by location and season. Crystal Bay is generally calm and great for swimming. For snorkeling, our guide will always assess conditions before entering the water and will only take you to spots that are safe on the day. All snorkeling is done with a guide present. We prioritize guest safety above all else, and will never take you somewhere we consider unsafe.
