It depends on the package. The Sunrise Only package typically lasts around 2–3 hours from the meeting point. The Sunrise & Black Lava package runs approximately 3–4 hours. Packages that include the Floating Temple or Black Sand Beach can take 4–5 hours. The Jeep Sunrise & Hot Spring package is the longest, running until around 11:30 AM with the hot spring visit included. We’re flexible — let us know if you have time constraints and we’ll adjust accordingly.
The black lava field is a vast, otherworldly landscape formed by the last major eruption of Mount Batur in 1963. The cooled volcanic lava stretches across the lower slopes of the mountain, creating a dramatic dark terrain unlike anything else in Bali. It’s one of the most photogenic spots on the island — especially when contrasted against the blue sky and Lake Batur in the background. Our jeep takes you right through the lava fields so you can explore on foot and take photos up close.
Our open 4WD jeeps comfortably accommodate up to 4 passengers plus the driver. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple jeeps — each priced per jeep, not per person, so it’s great value for families or small groups. Yes, our jeep tours are family-friendly and suitable for most ages. The routes are off-road but manageable, and you stay seated in the jeep for the majority of the journey — no physical exertion needed. For very young children (under 3) or guests with mobility concerns, we recommend the Sunrise Only package as it involves the least movement. Our drivers are experienced, safety-conscious locals who know every trail around the mountain.
Mount Batur weather can be unpredictable, but most days — especially in dry season (April to October) — are clear at sunrise. If the sky is partly cloudy, the sunrise can still be spectacular with dramatic lighting through the clouds. In rare cases of heavy cloud or rain, we recommend rescheduling. Just message us on WhatsApp the evening before and we can discuss options. Guest safety and experience always come first.
Absolutely. We’re very flexible with itineraries. You can add stops like a Balinese coffee plantation, extend the tour to include more viewpoints, or combine your jeep tour with other activities like ATV, rafting, or a waterfall visit. All jeep tour packages include an experienced local driver, entrance ticket to the Mount Batur area, and one bottle of mineral water per person. Packages that include the Floating Temple add the temple entrance fee. The Jeep Sunrise & Hot Spring package additionally includes the Batur Natural Hot Spring ticket and towels. Hotel pickup and drop-off is available as an optional add-on service. Pricing is per jeep — so the more people in your group, the better value it becomes.
